Memory & Life Drawings
This is a selection of my drawings, many of which I've done from memory (I've recently started life drawing again).
Each of the memory drawings was made some time after the event, from a memorable pose or repeated action. How can we capture the fleeting movement, the chance coincidence of form and relationship that living figures have?
I use repeated lines, with different weights or colours, to emphasise the nuances of relationship or impact on my feelings as I saw the shapes in real-time. This gives an impression of the movement as well as the fleeting nature of the memory and pose.
Each of these drawings is either a pen and ink or pastel drawing, on paper, normally without titles.
The printed versions don't contain the title or copyright.
