Murals
This collection is of some of my mural/exterior artworks. I was commissioned to create these by a local school. Sadly, all but one of these buildings were removed during the recent development of the school.
Each of the designs here are based on the theme of "Four Elements", since they were to be outside an "elementary" school in North London. My concept was to make the "Earth" wall reflect the actual location of the school I am very familiar with, basing it on aerial maps of the area. "Air" was based on weather maps, again using a map of a forecast for the area.
The original designs were created at roughly A4 size. The colours were chosen from exterior paint palettes, but were colour-mixed from the inkjet printout of the designs.
The final versions were 10m wide and 3m high, scaled up on the wall. The brickwork required stabilising, priming, undercoat and two final coats of colour. Line art was re-worked once the colour was applied. A final coat of anti-graffiti surface was applied once the walls were painted.
A team of 6 people, under my direction, prepared the walls and painted within the scaled-up line-art. I painted all the line-art and finish colour.
